How to swap ETH to SOL without mixing up networks

An Ethereum-to-Solana checklist: prepare the right wallets, compare a live quote and follow the deposit through to native SOL delivery.

To exchange ETH on Ethereum for SOL on Solana, select native ETH as the input and native SOL as the output, use a Solana recipient and follow a live cross-chain quote. This changes the asset as well as the network. Sending ETH directly to a Solana address cannot perform the conversion.

ETH to SOL is not the same as bridging ETH

If your goal is to use Solana applications or hold SOL, check that the output is SOL on Solana. A bridged or wrapped ETH token on Solana remains a different asset and is not the output of Moss's default ETH to SOL route. Conversely, ETH held on Base or Arbitrum is not an Ethereum-mainnet source balance; choose the actual source network if your ETH is on an L2.

Prepare the source balance and receiving wallet

  • Have spendable native ETH on Ethereum mainnet. A token such as WETH is not the native ETH selection.
  • Leave ETH outside the swap amount for the Ethereum sending fee. Ethereum's gas documentation explains why ETH is needed even when the destination is another blockchain.
  • Copy your SOL receive address from a wallet or exchange that supports native SOL on Solana mainnet. Do not use the 0x address of your Ethereum wallet as the SOL destination.
  • If receiving at an exchange, check its SOL deposit minimum and crediting rules. A completed provider payout and an exchange account credit are separate events.

Prepare and track the exchange on Moss

  1. Open the exact pair

Use the ETH to SOL page. Confirm Ethereum on the sending side and Solana on the receiving side before entering the amount. A matching ETH ticker on another network is not enough.

  2. Compare the estimated SOL output

Enter an amount that leaves your gas buffer. Review the available provider, estimated output, fees, minimum and timing. A displayed estimate is not a promise of a fixed price or an unconditional delivery time.

  3. Set the recipient and any required refund address

Paste and check the Solana recipient. Follow the form's refund requirements for the source network. Refunds can depend on provider rules and may incur costs; do not assume every failed route reverses immediately or without deductions.

  4. Follow the selected execution method

With Pay by transfer, prepare the route and follow its deposit instructions. With a connected-wallet route, review each requested action before signing. A wallet connection does not itself authorize payment. Never disclose a seed phrase or private key.

  5. Keep the tracker until payout

Follow deposit confirmation, conversion and Solana delivery as distinct stages. Retain the source transaction hash and route tracking link. When a payout hash is available, check it on the destination network before troubleshooting wallet display or exchange crediting.

Why the final amount and timing can change

The Ethereum source transaction has a network cost. The route can also include conversion, provider, affiliate and payout costs. Compare the net SOL estimate, and do not add displayed fee components twice if they are already included in the output. Consult fees and deposit minimums when comparing routes.

Ethereum confirmations, liquidity and the selected provider's processing requirements affect the wait. A fast Solana payout does not eliminate the Ethereum stage. Once SOL arrives, later Solana transactions still charge fees in SOL, as described in Solana's fee documentation.

If something does not look right

  • No quote: check the exact source network and amount. Availability is not guaranteed for every balance or moment; do not fund an unquoted route.
  • Source confirmed but SOL not received: inspect the route tracker, not just the Ethereum explorer. Conversion or payout may still be pending.
  • Payout complete but not visible: verify the Solana address and transaction, then check your wallet network or the receiving exchange's crediting requirements.
  • Need to return to Ethereum: the SOL to ETH page is a separate new exchange with its own quote and fees, not an undo button.
